LITTLE-TRIP CITY GUIDE
Changwon travel guide: from a planned city’s lake to a naval port’s cherry blossoms
Changwon joins a planned city, Masan’s old harbor downtown and Jinhae’s naval-port streets. Check actual travel times between these areas and divide your days accordingly.

Streets and a lake in a planned city
Walk the 1980s tree-lined streets to Yongji Lake Park and see how greenery shaped Korea’s first planned city. Nearby, the House of Changwon shows a restored family hanok and traditional household tools.
Ancient iron and Masan’s harbor
The Seongsan Shell Mound is a national historic site where shell middens and an iron-smelting site were found together. In Masan, the fish market, Chang-dong Art Village and the Moonshin Art Museum link the old downtown lanes and hillside. Shop and studio opening days vary, so check them separately.
Jinhae’s blossoms and early-modern streets
Yeojwacheon Stream, Gyeonghwa Station, the inland-fisheries eco-park, Jehwangsan Park and Jinhaeru are cherry-blossom sites named in the Korea Tourism Organization’s Jinhae Gunhangje record. Early-modern buildings such as the 1912 Jinhae Post Office stand around the central rotary. Check that year’s notices for festival traffic control and parking.
Questions for children and context for adults
Start with one visible question: why are shells piled on a hill, or who built the stone towers and why? At places marking democratic history, such as the March 15 protests, prepare adult context separately from children’s questions.
